LOGAN – A new national report suggests that Utah is doing a strong job preparing students for college, careers and adult life.
The nonprofit, nonpartisan XQ Institute recently released a study titled “The Future is High School: A Strategy for State Leaders to Accelerate Learning, Work and American Responsibility.”
The report looks at how well each state connects high school education to life after graduation.
According to the study, Utah is earning what could be considered a “B+” for aligning student experiences with future academic and career opportunities.
Utah Superintendent of Public Instruction Molly Hart said Utah is focused on helping every student graduate with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in whatever path they choose.
Russlyn Ali, CEO of XQ Institute, said Utah leaders are showing what is possible when leaders focus on improving high school. She said Utah has about 232,000 jobs to fill each year and Utah leaders understand that high school plays a key role in preparing students for the workforce.
