Weekend figures from the Utah Health Department (UDOH) indicate 433 new COVID infections Friday, 336 Saturday and 176 Sunday for a total of 896. The weekend average of 299 cases a day is below Utah’s current rolling seven-day average for positive tests which is 438. Forty-nine cases were removed from the total count through data quality analysis.
There have been 922,852 positive cases in Utah the last 23 months.
The state reported the COVID death toll has grown to 4,411, including three new deaths since Friday.
Totals from the Bear River Health Department’s new weekly report indicate seven new COVID cases in Cache, Box Elder and Rich counties the last 24 hours. The district’s total case count grew to 51,266.
About 58 percent of those living in Utah’s three northern counties are fully vaccinated and at least 70 percent have had one dose. Almost 255,000 vaccine doses have been administered in the district.
The state reported Monday that 61 percent of Utah’s population — more than 1.98 million — is fully vaccinated.
The number of Utahns hospitalized with COVID has fallen to 326, 46 fewer than on Friday and 73 are in intensive care units, 28 fewer than were reported on Friday. Over the course of the pandemic 33,214 Utahns have been hospitalized with the virus. That includes 1,985 in the Bear River Health District.
More than 4.9 million Utahns have been tested for coronavirus and more than 9.2 million tests have been administered in the state since the start of the pandemic. There were 9,532 people tested since Friday and 21,003 total tests were administered during that time.
Utah’s rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 15.4 percent while the percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 8.9 percent.
Monday’s Idaho update shows 4,730 COVID deaths in the state. The current total of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 423,638. Case counts in the three counties in southeast Idaho include 2,329 positive cases in Franklin County, 903 in Bear Lake County and 789 in Oneida County.
