LOGAN – The Utah State University Department of Public Safety is responsible to provide the safest working, living and learning environment for those in the USU community and their families.

That is accomplished through the efforts of the department’s three branches: Emergency Management, Fire Marshall and USU Police.

An exercise on Friday, April 18 to enhance emergency preparedness and response coordination will involve USU’s Department of Public Safety working with local law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire departments and partner agencies.

From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. next Friday the exercise will unfold in the vicinity of the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, Central Energy Plant and the Wayne Estes Center.

This is part of of a planned exercise and the community is advised not to be alarmed. Emergency vehicles will operate with lights and sirens and actors with simulated injuries will participate to create a realistic training environment.

Director of USU Emergency Management Scott Davis said these exercises help first responders and university personnel to act quickly in real-life situations.
