Emily Anne Fisher
LOGAN — A 23-year-old Utah State student has died from her injuries after a head-on collision along Valley View Highway, SR-30. Emily Anne Fisher was on her way home for the weekend when the crash happened Friday afternoon.
Concerned about snowy conditions in Sardine Canyon at the time, Fisher, who is from Grantsville, had decided to take the long way home.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Brian Peterson said the crash happened around 2 p.m. near milepost 101 in Petersboro.
According to investigators, Fisher was driving a silver Ford Fiesta westbound when she lost control of the vehicle and slid into eastbound traffic.
A white GMC was unable to avoid the Ford due to slushy roads and hit the car head on.
Fisher was trapped in her car and had to be extricated by emergency responders. She was transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital, with critical injuries but later died from her injuries.
The driver of the GMC was transported with non-life-threatening injuries. Two other passengers who were inside the GMC were not injured.
According to her obituary, Fisher was set to graduate this Spring from USU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
Fisher recently served a mission in Milan, Italy for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and returned to the country with friends this past summer. Her family described how she loved Hershey’s Chocolate Bars, going on adventures, painting, and lacrosse.
“She lit up a room when she walked in and made everyone feel loved. She was selfless and caring and was the very best of us. Her laugh was contagious, she was a great listener and would fill any hole in your heart,” her obituary read.
Funeral services will be held at the LDS Chapel View Building (11473 S. Chapel View Dr., South Jordan, Utah 84095). Viewings will be Thursday, February 2nd from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Friday, February 3rd from 10:00am to 11:30am followed by the funeral service at 12:00pm. Interment will be at South Jordan Cemetery.
