LOGAN – A discussion exploring how the Utah State University community can learn to “disagree better” is set for Monday when USU President Elizabeth Cantwell hosts Utah Gov. Spencer Cox and Dr. Irshad Manji, founder of the Moral Courage Project.
The first President’s Forum on Conflict and Conflict Resolution begins with a conversation involving the three speakers from 2-3:30 p.m. about learning to have productive conservations across ideological divides. That will be followed Prof. Manji’s keynote address.
The forum will be held in the Caine College of the Arts Russell/Wanlass Performance Hall.
Dr. Cantwell said in today’s polarized political climate it is essential to be able to learn to listen and be able to discuss charged issues in a meaningful way.
As a longtime professor of leadership at NYU, Dr. Manji founded the award-winning Moral Courage Project which empowers businesses and schools to transform conflict into healthy relationships. In 2015 she joined the University of Southern California faculty.
Gov. Cox, a USU grad (’98) who is currently the National Governors Association chair, has been promoting the NGA’s initiative to Disagree Better.
