LOGAN – To kick off Women’s History Month in March Utah State University has announced the Women and America’s Vietnam War Symposium, Friday March 1, at the Eccles Conference Center.
It will be a day-long event on the USU campus, it is free and open to the public. It will be available via Zoom for those unable to attend.
The Vietnam War ended almost 50 years ago, leaving a lasting impact on all involved, including women who served in the military or whose loved ones were deployed overseas. Hearing the experiences of these women is the aim of this symposium. Those attending, from students to scholars to community leaders, will hear diverse perspectives about this conflict.
The event is organized through USU’s ongoing Bringing War Home Project which digitally collects objects and stories that help to preserve America’s experiences with modern war.
The event’s three guest speakers are former military nurse and author Susan O’Neill, author Thi Bui and former military nurse and Professor Kara Dixon Vuic, Professor of War, Conflict and Society at Texas Christian University.
