LOGAN — Two people died in a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning north of Clarkston.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Mikelshan Bartschi said deputies were called to the scene at 14200 Stink Creek Road, near the Logan City Landfill, just after 6 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a vehicle that had crashed and a male and female, both of whom had been ejected.

Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not been released yet, pending notification of family members.

Bartschi said investigators believe several factors contributed to the fatal crash, including excessive speed and the failure to use seatbelts.

Deputies also reportedly found multiple open containers of alcohol in the vehicle.

“Our sincerest condolences go out to the families of those involved in this tragic incident,” said Bartschi. “We want to remind everyone in our community to drive safely, wear your seatbelt, and never drink and drive. A moment of poor judgment can have devastating and irreversible consequences.”
