LOGAN – In its first major event since the death of its founder Charlie Kirk, the Turning Point USA organization will bring its traveling road show to Logan on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Symbolizing the group’s determination to continue Kirk’s work of changing minds on college campuses, the Turning Point event is slated for the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on the campus of Utah State University at 6:30 p.m.

Stepping into big shoe left by Kirk’s death, the featured speaker at the Turning Point event will Alex Clark, a conservative commentator and podcast host.

Clark will appear with a panel of like-minded conservatives, including Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and former congressman Jason Chaffetz of Utah.

In the addition to the panel discussion at the Turning Point event, a question and answer session with audience members is also scheduled.

Kirk was slain by alleged sniper Tyler Robinson on Sept. 10 during an open-air event at Utah Valley University which was part of Turning Point’s nationwide “Prove Me Wrong” tour.

The previously scheduled Sept. 30 engagement at USU was originally slated to be held in the Daines Concert Hall, but was moved after Kirk’s death to provide more security and accommodate the massive audience of students and Utah residents expected to turn out to honor the conservative activist’s memory.

The Spectrum auditorium has the capacity to seat more than 10,000 spectators.

In the wake of the Turning Point founder’s death, additional security measures at USU will include threat assessment, detailed security planning, crowd management, close protection for the speakers and new readiness for crisis response, according to news reports.

The Dee Glen Smith Spectrum auditorium is located at 900 East, 900 North on the campus of USU in Logan.
