Utah Highway Patrol troopers report a silver Chevy Tahoe was southbound on State Route-165 at 1700 S. At the same time, a red Nissan pickup was eastbound on 1700 S.

As the Nissan approached the intersection, the driver reportedly ran a red light and collided with the Tahoe. The impact caused the Tahoe to strike three other stationary vehicles in the northbound lanes.

Troopers report neither of the occupants in the Nissan pickup were wearing seat belts. The driver was ejected and found by medical personnel in serious condition. He was flown by medical helicopter to a Salt Lake area hospital.

The passenger in the pickup had to be extricated from the truck by emergency crews. He was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The identities of both men are being withheld, pending notification of family.

Troopers found no other injuries to the occupants of the other four vehicles involved.

SR-165 was closed for around four hours, while crews investigated and cleared the crash.
