PARADISE – The town of Paradise is celebrating their Trout and Berry Days this week from Thursday, Aug. 22, through Saturday, Aug 24, 2024, with tournaments, a rodeo and a slew of Saturday activities. All activities will be held at the Paradise Town Square unless otherwise noted.

The kickoff for Trout and Berry Days is the horseshoe tournament that starts at 6 p.m. and goes until about 9:30 p.m. The pickleball tournament will be from 6-10:00 p.m. People can register online at troutandberrydays.com.

The Porcupine Round Up Rodeo will be held at the Paradise Arena, located at 9600 S. 100 E. Friday, August 23 starting at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $5/person (11 and under are free).

 “This is the first ever and hopefully soon to be famous Paradise Rodeo,” said Alyssa Petersen, the Paradise city clerk. “The $5 admission is to be used to help fund additional rodeos.”

The bulk of the celebration will be held on Saturday, Aug 24, starting with the Karen Weeks Memorial 5K Run/Walk beginning at 7 a.m. Participants can register online.

The Paradise Volunteer Fire Department breakfast fundraiser will begin at 7 a.m. and go on until, 10 a.m. The cost is $9/adults, $7/kids. The money raised will go for training firefighters.

Sand Volleyball will take place from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. 

At 9 a.m. the town veterans will perform the Flag Raising.

People can set up lawn chairs and blankets along 100 West or 400 West for the Paradise Parade along 100 West or 400 West. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. The Mountain Crest Marching Band, horses, vintage tractors, the fire department and many others are expected to be there. Clayton and Nyla Obray, longtime residents of Paradise, have served in variety of ways and they will be the grand marshals.

From 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. the Vendor Booths and Kid Games and Inflatables will dominate the square. From 12 noon until 2 p.m. the Trout Scramble will take place. The cost is $1 per participant.

Later in the afternoon at 2 p.m. the Berry Pie Eating Contest will take place.

A Community Auction will be held at 3 p.m. to benefit the fire department.

Mud Volleyball also gets underway at 3 p.m.  

The annual Trout Dinner with a Berry Tart will go from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at troutandberrydays.com for $15 or at the door for $20 per plate.
