A peacock flew on a deck in Hyrum on Sunday and so far has decided to stay for awhile. Still perched on Tuesday Feb. 14, 2023..
HYRUM – Our family had an uninvited visitor on Super Bowl Sunday and it won’t go home. It’s still here on Valentines Day. The whole family gathered at our house for the annual family Super Bowl party. Every year they come together, they all bring food and watch the ballgame and talk and talk and talk.

The kids made posters this year and screamed when the green team did anything spectacular or not and then groaned when the red team scored.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles put on quite a show.
There was enough food left over to feed every starving soul in Africa.
When the game was over and the disappointed fans left the house, everything was cleaned up, everyone left except for the one uninvited visitor.
And he is still here.
The evening of the Super Bowl we had a visit from a peacock. The thing was perched on our deck and he hasn’t left and it is Tuesday.
My wife can walk out on the deck, and it doesn’t move. I haven’t ventured out to see if it will stick around when I walk out there.
At night it sits close to the house on the deck. When the sun comes up he floats to the ground or to the top of the house. We haven’t kept track. All we know is he perches on the deck in the mornings and evenings.
With all the snow in the yard we haven’t ventured out to see where he is not roosting during the day. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to feed it or chase it away.
It’s a big bird, obviously, not the same as having a parakeet or a pigeon or even a chicken. It’s prettier than a turkey.
A quick-witted husband would have told his wife he got it for her for Valentine’s Day. That could have been a marriage breaker for this one.
If anyone is missing a large, brightly colored bird with eyes on the back of his tail give me a call.
