More students than ever are choosing nursing—and USU is making room for them. Utah State University (USU) continues to invest in its nursing program.
In June 2024, the university unveiled a state-of-the-art nursing education facility, enabling the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program on the Logan campus to double in size. The program can now admit up to 60 students annually—30 each semester—bringing total enrollment to 120 students at any given time within the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services.
“In our rapidly changing world, being a nurse offers purpose, leadership and impact. It’s more than a major—it’s a calling to care, to innovate and to lead,” said Carma Miller, former head of the Department of Nursing. “Our USU nursing graduates are in demand not only across the state, but nationwide—opening doors to meaningful careers wherever they choose to go.”
Graduates of the BSN program are well equipped for the workforce. The program boasts a 95% pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), which is required for licensure as a registered nurse.
In 2017, the Logan campus opened its own Bachelor of Nursing program, followed by an RN to BSN online program in 2020. In addition to the Logan BSN programs, USU’s statewide campuses in Blanding, Moab, Price, Tooele, and Uintah Basin have nursing programs that offer an associate degree RN. Statewide campuses in Blanding, Moab and Price also have programs for LPN certification.
“Nursing offers the unique opportunity to be both a highly skilled professional and a compassionate presence in the lives of others each day,” said Pam Anderson, interim head of the Department of Nursing. “For those seeking purpose, meaningful challenges and the power to truly make a difference, nursing will meet you there.”
Cheyenne Naegle, a Logan native and USU nursing alumna, is featured in a video highlighting the program. Naegle earned her BSN at the Logan campus and currently works as a registered nurse in Logan.
