LOGAN – A new annual lecture series at Utah State University begins in early-February when President Elizabeth Cantwell hosts Utah Governor Spencer Cox and Dr. Irshad Manji, an advocate of a reformist interpretation of Islam.

The President’s Forum on Conflict and Conflict Resolution begins Monday, Feb. 5 with a conversation from 2-3:30 p.m. about how the USU community can learn to “disagree better.”

Following her discussion with the governor and President Cantwell, Prof. Manji will deliver a keynote address.

The forum will be held in the Caine College of the Arts Russell/Wanlass Performance Hall.

Dr. Cantwell said in today’s polarized political climate it is essential to be able to learn to listen and be able to discuss charged issues in a meaningful way.

Dr. Manji is a longtime professor of leadership at NYU who founded the award-winning Moral Courage Project which empowers businesses and schools to transform conflict into healthy relationships. In 2015 she joined the University of Southern California faculty.

Gov. Cox, a USU grad who is currently the National Governors Association chair, has been promoting the NGA’s initiative to Disagree Better
