LOGAN – Donating to The Starfish Giving Machines are a great way to support families and children in Cache Valley and surrounding areas this year.
The Family Place introduced their Starfish Giving Machine in 2020 and since then it has become a major arm in their fundraising efforts.
This year there are two Giving Machines, one is located at Lee’s Marketplace in Logan, 555 East 1400 North, Logan, and the other is located in the entrance at The Family Place Belva Hansen building, located at 1525 North 200 West, Logan.
The plan is to have them out until mid-January.
Dr. Sheryl Goodey, the Executive Director of The Family Place, hopes the public will embrace The Starfish Giving Machines and make a big difference in their organization.
“We are very excited about these Giving machines,” she said. “We are optimistic that these machines will inspire families to give to an incredible cause.”
Each holiday season the Family Place is touched by those who choose to support a place that supports children and families in the community. Any donation, no matter how small, makes a big difference.
“We are so grateful for Lee’s Marketplace for being willing to host our machine, and we are also grateful for Darrell’s Appliance for helping us transport the machines, not an easy task,” Goodey said. “Thanks to a generous donor, all donations, including donations through the giving machines, will be doubled through the month of December. There is no better time to donate to The Family Place.”
The Family Place has tried a variety of funding options through the years including emails, social media, and their Starfish vending machine has worked well. Rather than spending a few dollars on a soda or candy bar, people could donate money for various services or items needed at the center.
Some of the products and services represented in the giving machines include: art supplies, office equipment, counseling services for families in need, Starfish Children’s Center, Kids Place Snacks and more.
One community member said The Star Fish Giving is an awesome way to help a place with a mission to strengthen families and protect children by offering fun family-focused events in the community.
“I can’t wait to take my kids to donate to the machines,” he said. “The Family Place supports our most vulnerable within the community. Please consider stopping by to donate to this great cause.”
