LOGAN – The Chamber Music Society of Logan will present the Tesla Quartet in concert on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

That event will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Russell/Wanless Performance Hall on the campus of Utah State University.

Originally formed in 2008 at the Julliard School in New York City, the Tesla Quartet is now composed of Ross Snyder and Michelle Lie playing violin, Edward Kaplan playing viola and Austin Fisher playing cello.

Since its inception, the quartet quickly established itself as one of the most promising young ensembles on the chamber music scene.

With a repertoire ranging from cutting edge contemporary works to established masterpieces, the Tesla Quartet has established a reputation for emotive and thoughtful interpretations that demonstrate their deep commitment to their musical craft.

The quartet takes its name from electrical engineer and physicist Nikola Tesla, a Serbian-American inventor who help to develop alternating-current electricity and influentially talked about harnessing and transmitting the earth’s natural forces to connect people.

“That’s what we try to do with music,” says Snyder.

The quartet also recognizes the power of their platform to amplify underrepresented voices and to encourage a just future as well as a hospitable climate for society.

In addition to their Tuesday evening concert, the quartet’s members will also conduct master classes for USU students.

The Chamber Music Society of Logan brings renowned chamber music ensembles like the Tesla Quartet to Logan, contributing to the richness of the Cache Valley arts community.

The society is also proud to play an important role in connecting young musicians with seasoned professionals through master classes, extended artist residencies and performances in the schools.

Tickets for the Testa Quartet concert can be obtained by calling the Caine College of the Arts Box Office at 435-797-8022 or going online to ticketscc@usu.edu.
