June 12, 1934 – March 22, 2023 (age 88)

Stephen Lars Bunnell, 88, of Brigham City, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. He was born on June 12, 1934, to Stephen Reese Bunnell and Helen Madsen in Mt. Pleasant, Utah.

Stephen went to Box Elder High School and graduated from Utah State University with a degree in civil engineering.

The majority of his career was with the Utah Forest Service as a bridge designer. He ended his career as The Chief Structural Engineer for the USFS in Washington, D.C.

In 1994 he retired and spent his time doing the things he loved, teaching math in the Weber County School District and golfing.

Stephen married DeeAnn Hess on September 7, 1956, in the Salt Lake City Temple. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving a mission and holding many leadership roles in scouting.

Stephen is predeceased by his wife DeeAnn.

He is survived by his siblings: Wallace Bunnell, Beth Peterson; children: Pamela Ahlmer, Holli Marriott, Rochelle Zentgraf (Ralph), Terryn Bunnell, 17 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Stephen will be held together with his wife’s funeral on Friday, March 24, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, Utah.

Their Viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:40 – 10:40 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment in the Brigham City Cemetery.
