LOGAN — Heavy snow has prompted most Cache Valley schools to delay the start of classes Friday morning. The announcement came after close to a foot or more of snow fell overnight.

Early Friday, officials with both the Cache County and Logan City school districts postponed the start of classes for two hours. Morning preschool and kindergarten classes were also cancelled for both districts.

Additionally, the Bear River Charter School issued a similar delay.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for much of northern Utah and southeast Idaho as snow is expected to continue through the morning hours. More than 9 inches of snow was recorded outside the KVNU studios.

Law enforcement have responded to multiple vehicle crashes and slide-offs. They are once again asking motorists to slow down and drive cautiously.

Most roads and side streets have yet to be plowed, leading some drivers to also get stuck.

Utah Department of Transportation reports snow covered roads in both Sardine and Logan canyons. There are also heavy delays along Interstates 15 and 84.
