CACHE COUNTY — Avenues of Hope, based in Cache Valley, is geared toward families and loved ones, friends and relatives of those who have died by suicide.
On KVNU’s For the People program on Tuesday, Lisa Mitchell from the organization said as part of that help for those affected by suicide, they are putting together gift baskets.
“It is something that we’ve been thinking about doing over the last few months and we are starting to gather some things to put in baskets, ranging from self-help items, self-care items, gift cards from grocery stores or restaurants. Just anything that we can put in there to help families that have lost someone through suicide (to) just know that they are loved and supported,” she said.
They are seeking the public’s support in this project.
“Some of the donations that I’ve already got are coming from people who have experienced this loss. One of the other things that we have asked for are letters from people who might be a little farther down the journey of this loss, that some of the things that have helped them get through this loss. So, we’re also looking for letters from people who have lost a loved one to suicide and how they got through some of these hard times.”
If you would like to donate a handwritten letter, you can send it to P.O. Box 196, Wellsville UT 84339.
If you would rather email, you can send it to Lisamitchell.aoh@gmail.com, or if you have donations you would like picked up, you can email Lisa at the address just mentioned and they can arrange that.
