LOGAN – City officials here are reminding local residents of the do’s and don’t’s for the recycling program in Logan.
This graphic taken from a Logan City Facebook post illustrates some of the do’s and don’t’s associated with the recycle program being operated by the Logan Environmental Department (Image courtesy of Facebook).
Officials of the Logan Environmental Department stress that the year-round recycling program benefits everyone by saving money and that something as simple as making sure that only recyclable items end up in the city’s blue bins can have a big impact.
Proper sorting and disposal of recyclables also helps to conserve resources, extends the life of city landfills and decreases pollution, they add.
Items that the city’s Environmental Department can recycle include paper of all kinds (e.g. sheet paper, paperboard from cereal box and other packaging, discarded mail and flattened cardboard); lightly rinsed metal cans; and plastic bottles and jugs (clear or translucent only).
Items that should never be placed in city’s blue recycling bins include plastic bags; glass of all kinds; liquids, food or green waste; paper cartons for liquids; colored plastic bottle or jugs; and Styrofoam containers.
Residents who need an extra reminder of those do’s and don’t’s can pick up free stickers for their indoor or outdoor bins at the Logan Environmental Department Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Officials of the Environmental Department also expressed their gratitude to Logan residents who take the time to recycle the right way throughout the year.
The Logan Environmental Department is located at 153 North, 1400 West in Logan.
