Theater, sporting events, a fun run and even some craft fairs are going on in Cache Valley this weekend.

OLIVER!

Mountain Crest Theatre brings to life the Charles Dickens classic Oliver! with a live orchestra and the largest cast ever assembled on the Mountain Crest stage. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and again on Monday.

RICHMOND FALL CRAFT FAIR

The 10th annual Richmond Craft Fair is this weekend. There will be over 30 local artisans at the Park Community Center both Friday and Saturday.

HOLIDAY GIFT SHOW

Artisans from around Cache Valley will also be at the Cache County Events Center this weekend at the Holiday Gift Show. Handmade goods for holiday gift giving will be available Friday afternoon and most of the day Saturday.

USU PHYSICS DEMONSTRATION SHOW

It’s become a favorite Cache Valley tradition, USU’s Department of Physics will show off non-stop science demonstrations that will thrill all ages. The fun takes place at the Eccles Science Learning Center Friday at 7 p.m.

25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE

Utah State Opera Theatre presents the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, in the Caine Lyric Theatre. Young spellers face real-life adult pressures Friday at 7:30 p.m. *There are some adult themes and may not be appropriate for children under 13 years of age.

STRING CHAMBER MUSIC

Students of the USU string program will showcase their talents in the Russell/Wanlass Performance Hall Friday. The program will feature the music of Mozart, Beethoven, and other masterpieces.

PERICLES, PRINCE OF TYRE

Do you like stories of pirates? How about riddles, a love story, and murder? That’s what you’ll find in the Morgan Theatre at USU this weekend. Pericles, Prince of Tyre is performed this Friday and Saturday, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

ALTERNATIVE GIFT MARKET

Designate charitable gifts through carefully selected agencies in the name of relatives, friends and associates – like a life sustaining water well, or education, or fight hunger – at the Alternative Gift Market. It takes place Saturday starting at 9 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

SMITHFIELD TURKEY TROT

Smithfield’s annual Turkey Trot is one of the best late season runs of the year and it takes place Saturday morning. There are 10K, 5K and 1 mile routes starting at 10 a.m. at the Smithfield Recreation Center.

CHRISTMAS FOR OUR COMMUNITY

A bake sale, silent auction and warm clothing drive are taking place Saturday afternoon at Elite Hall in Hyrum. Proceeds will be used to help needy families this Christmas.

USU FOOTBALL VS BOISE STATE

It’s USU’s final home football game of the season on Saturday and they take on conference rival Boise State. The Aggies still have a chance to win their division, so it’s a big game. Kickoff is at 8:30 p.m.

THANKSGIVING DEVOTIONAL

The Logan Institute of Religion presents a Combined Choirs Thanksgiving Devotional at 6 p.m. and again at 8 p.m. on Sunday. Doors open 30 minutes before each devotional.

INTERFAITH THANKSGIVING SERVICE

An Interfaith Thanksgiving Service takes place at 7 in the Logan Tabernacle on Sunday. Sponsored by Cache Community Connections, messages of thanksgiving will be shared by multiple religious groups in our valley, as well as a number of special musical performances.
