CACHE COUNTY  – Local residents are being urged to register with a new service to obtain information about local emergencies.

The Cache County Emergency Management service and the Cache-Logan 911 Dispatch Center have recently joined Everbridge, a service that helps organization and officials communicate critical, emergency information to the public.

Everbridge allows officials to send out emergency notifications to residents and businesses via text, email, phone and social media, according to Will Lusk, the emergency manager for Cache County. These notifications can include information on what to do, where to go and how to stay informed in the case of any emergency situation.

Everbridge operates in many countries and regions around the world, including the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, the Pacific Rim, the Middle East and Africa.

Here in northern Utah, the counties affected by the transition to Everbridge service include Cache, Box Elder, Morgan, Weber, Davis and Rich.

To opt in for emergency alerts that could impact their safety, Cache County residents are encouraged to register for an Everbridge account by going online to https://member.everbridge.net/index/107925548826629

Local residents who have previously signed up for CodeRed emergency alerts will have their information automatically transferred to the Everbridge system.

But local officials warn that those individuals and families still must register with Everbridge to identify their phone numbers, manage their accounts and indicate their preferences in terms of messages and notifications.
