LOGAN — A medical salon in North Logan is facing mounting financial trouble, after several lawsuits were filed against the owners and most of the employees walked out, claiming they were taken advantage of. Megan and Skylar Hayes, owners of Ascent Aesthetics, face more than $600,000 in possible damages along with more than $40,000 in debt collections.

In July, a federal case was filed against Ascent Aesthetics, claiming Megan Hayes had purchased a skin treatment device from a California company for $225,770. The equipment was delivered in April but allegedly never paid for.

According to court records, Megan repeatedly told the California company that she was sending payment either by mail or electronic transfer, but the funds were never received. Eventually a check was sent to the company in April but it bounced.

In May, Megan allegedly told the California company several times she wiring the money directly but then claimed she had the wrong account numbers. Later she said Skyler Hayes had suffered a medical emergency that prevented her from going to the bank.

The California company wrote, they have never received payment for the equipment. “All of these statements made by (Megan) Hayes about Ascent’s payment for the property were false,” attorneys said in the complaint.

According to several employees at Ascent Aesthetics, when the case was filed against the company in July, Megan approached multiple staff members, asking them for personal loans to invest into the company. She allegedly provided “bank letters,” explaining the loans would be repaid in two weeks. They reportedly were never paid back.

During the past several weeks, 15 employees reportedly quit Ascent Aesthetics. The company directory now lists just four employees.

Friday morning, Megan sent an email to past employees explaining that the company was going to delay distributing their remaining paychecks.

“This week’s payroll will be delayed due to extenuating circumstances – including the unanticipated departure of several employees – which have impacted our ability to meet financial obligations,” the email read in part.

Several calls and messages were made to Ascent Aesthetics requesting comment. As of the time of this news article being published, no reply or even contact has been made.

The California company is requesting damages against both Megan and Skyler Hayes in an amount not less than $600,000, in addition to punitive damages, attorneys’ fees and costs of collection. The case has been assigned to a mediator to attempt to work out a resolution.

Megan and Skylar Hayes purchased Ascent Aesthetics in April 2022. At the same time, they moved the medical salon into the third floor of the Three Peaks Medical Plaza, 2245 N. 400 East in North Logan. The clinic offers various skincare procedures, including Botox, facials, microneedling and laser hair removal.

In addition to the federal case, state records show multiple tax liens and debt collection cases have been filed against the Hayes during the past nine months. They amount to more than $42,092.
