LOGAN — New research shows Cache Valley has some of the safest roads in Utah. The study on each county’s total fatal car crashes per 10,000 licensed drivers has revealed which has the highest and lowest crash rates in the state.
The research highlighted exactly where the 2.2 million licensed drivers in the state need to be most cautious. Cache County was found to be the sixth safest, with only 3.9 fatal accidents per 10,000 people. Grand County was found to be the most dangerous, with 26.9 fatal crashes per 10,000 licensed drivers.
The research was done by Las Vegas personal injury lawyers H&P Law. They looked at the most recent statistics on motor vehicle crashes in each county, scaling the total crashes per 10,000 county population. Rich County and others with a population of less than 5,000 people were removed from the results due to the number being too small to calculate.
The research showed that Grand is the most dangerous county, with a rate of 26.9 fatal crashes per 10,000 people in the county. Whilst Grand has one of the smaller populations, drivers should be extra careful as the crash rate there is 131% above the state average (11.6 per 10,000 people).
Following behind it was Millard, San Juan, Emery and Garfield, rounding out the top five.

On the opposite end of the study, Davis County found itself as the safest for drivers with a rate of only 1.8 fatal accidents per 10,000 residents – a 84% decrease from the state average.
Following behind it was Utah, Salt Lake, Washington and Weber, rounding out the top five.

Officials say there are several things motorists can do to reduce the risk of accidents, no matter where they are driving. The advice includes slowing down, maintaining safe distances and plan for gas breaks.
