NORTH LOGAN – Music Theatre West will begin auditions for its upcoming production of The Scarlet Pimpernel on Wednesday, March 19.

A swashbuckler set amidst the so-called Reign of Terror during the French Revolution, the musical with a score by Frank Wildhorn and script by Nan Knighton is based on a series of early 20th Century short stories and novels by Baroness Emma Orczy.

Under the joint direction of Clifton and Melinda Richards, The Scarlet Pimpernel will be performed June 20 to 28 at the Ellen Eccles Theatre. The 1997 musical will be staged as one of the events being presented in lieu of the Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre productions normally occupying the restored movie palace during the summer months.

The Scarlet Pimpernel was previously produced by Music Theatre West in 2018.

The initial MTW auditions for The Scarlet Pimpernel will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19 and Thursday, March 20 in the Choir Room of Green Canyon High School in North Logan.

Auditions via video submissions can be submitted to the Richards at www.musictheatrewest.org if a would-be performer is unable to attend in person, though in-person auditions are preferred.

Call-backs will for the musical will be held by invitation only from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 22.

Rehearsals for The Scarlet Pimpernel will begin the week of April 14 at the Cache Theatre Company Academy Building.

Those rehearsals will be held Monday through Friday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The CTC Academy Building is located at 1950 North Main Street in North Logan.
