LOGAN — A motorcyclist was hospitalized after a vehicle crash in southwest Logan. The accident occurred Thursday around 5:15 p.m.
Logan City Police Chief Jeff Simmons said the motorcycle rider was traveling south on 1000 West.
At the same time, a northbound vehicle was attempting a left-hand turn, to head west on 200 South, and pulled in front of the bike.
It is suspected the motorcycle was travelling around 50 mph before striking the vehicle.
Paramedics transported the motorcyclist to Logan Regional Hospital, said Simmons. He was later flown by medical helicopter to McKay Dee Hospital, reportedly in extremely serious condition. His identity is not being released, pending notification of family.
The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Police do not suspect impairment or other factors in the crash.
Simmons said, “It appears the driver failed to see the motorcyclist approaching the intersection. It is a tragic oversight.”
The crash partially blocked traffic along 1000 West for more than an hour as police investigated and cleared the scene.
