BEAR LAKE COUNTY, Idaho — A 24-year-old woman from Montpelier was killed Sunday night in a two vehicle crash. The fatal accident occurred on Dec. 3 at 7:47 p.m. on US30 at milepost 417.
Idaho State Police report a 2013 Chevrolet Impala, driven by the 24-year-old woman, with a juvenile passenger, both from Montpelier, where traveling westbound. A 2014 Toyota pickup, driven by a 44-year-old-male, with a 42-year-old-female and two juveniles all from Montpelier, where traveling eastbound.
Police report the Chevrolet crossed the center line into the eastbound lanes and impacted the Toyota. What caused the car to drift into oncoming traffic is still being investigated.
The driver of the Chevrolet was transported by ground ambulance to local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
All other involved occupants were transported by ground to a local hospital and were wearing safety restraints.
Police report all lanes were blocked for approximately 4 hours, while responders worked to clear the scene and assist those involved.
