BANNOCK COUNTY, Idaho — A Montpelier man died Sunday evening following a single-vehicle rollover crash on U.S. Highway 30 east of Lava Hot Springs, according to the Idaho State Police.

Authorities reported that a Toyota Sienna carrying two men from Montpelier was traveling westbound near milepost 375 around 6:57 p.m. when the vehicle drifted off the roadway. The driver overcorrected, causing the van to overturn.

Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt. One man succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the other was evaluated by medical personnel but not transported to a hospital.

The crash blocked traffic on U.S. 30 for nearly six hours while emergency responders worked the scene.

Idaho State Police are investigating the crash with assistance from the Bannock County and Caribou County sheriff’s offices, the Bannock County Coroner’s Office, and the Bannock County Ambulance District.
