LOGAN – In 2012, the year Facebook went public, Utah State University graduate Michael Bailey started a full-time position at the company.

He became one of the first economists at Facebook. He said the early culture of Facebook was committed to building and experimenting and it gave him a chance to apply his economics skills at the frontier of technology.

Today he leads Meta’s Social Capital Lab which has partnered with Harvard’s Opportunity Insights to form social capital.org, creating new measures of economic connectedness and social capital.

Bailey has collaborated on projects with students in Huntsman’s Analytics Solutions Center (ASC) since 2023. He advises career seekers to discover what’s unique about themselves and pursue those characteristics onto a new path.

He returned to campus in early-November to be honored as a Professional Achievement Award Recipient in the Huntsman School of Business.
