LOGAN — A two vehicle crash Wednesday morning sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries. The accident was reported around 8 a.m. west of Newton.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Jason Kendrick said a 22-year-old Cornish man was driving a Buick Regal westbound along SR-142. Just west of the SR-23 intersection, the car drifted across the center line and collided with a Dodge pickup head-on.
The single occupant of the Buick was pinned inside the car and had to be extricated by emergency crews. A medical helicopter later transported him to a hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries to his lower leg.
The driver of the Dodge pickup, a 32-year-old Clarkston woman, sustained minor injuries. She was driven to the hospital to be check out as a precaution.
Kendrick said initial evidence suggests the driver of the Buick may have suffered from some sort of medical issue or fatigue just prior to the crash. There was no sign of impairment and troopers did not find any evidence of drugs or alcohol in the vehicle.
