LOGAN — A 62-year-old man has been arrested for groping a woman on a Connect Transit Bus, Tuesday afternoon, according to law enforcement. Francisco Javier Lopez was booked Wednesday into the Cache County Jail.
According to an arrest affidavit, management at the Connect Transit Center contacted Cache County Sheriff’s Deputies, who handle patrolling the valley wide bus service. Officials reported that a male individual had touched another passenger inappropriately on a bus
Transit managers had pulled video of the alleged incident. It reportedly showed the male suspect, later identified as Francisco Lopez, riding one of the busses on Tuesday.
Deputies reported that as Lopez was getting off the bus, he appeared to stop in front of the alleged victim and spoke to her. During the conversation, he was seen reaching his hand out and touching the woman’s groin area.
During questioning, Lopez reportedly admitted to deputies that he had touched the woman inappropriately.
According to jail records, Lopez was booked on suspicion of forcible sexual abuse. He is currently being held, pending arraignment of formal charges in Logan’s 1st District Court.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
