LOGAN — A 34-year-old man is facing allegations of sexually abusing a child following a police investigation into alleged incidents occurring in Logan nine years ago.

Trevor J. Thomas appeared July 29 in Logan’s 1st District Court after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was charged with five counts of aggravated sexual abuse, a first-degree felony.

Thomas, who was living in Malad City, Idaho, at the time of the investigation is accused of abusing a young girl in 2017.

According to court documents, the investigation began after the Logan City Police Department received a report from the Utah Division of Child and Family Services. The victim initially disclosed allegations of abuse to her family therapist, who subsequently submitted a written statement to law enforcement. The child reported that the abuse began when she was 4 years old.

Investigators reviewed a recorded forensic interview conducted with the child at the Box Elder Children’s Justice Center. During the interview, the victim disclosed multiple instances where Thomas allegedly entered the area where she was sleeping and touched her inappropriately underneath her clothing.

The affidavit details several specific incidents described by the victim. In one instance, the child stated she began crying while being touched on her chest and thighs, which caused the suspect to stop. During another incident, Thomas allegedly touched her inappropriately, yelled at her when she began to cry, and explicitly instructed her not to tell her mother.

The victim also reported that during other encounters, Thomas attempted to pull her pants down and tried to cover her mouth to prevent her from screaming. In another instance, the child disclosed that Thomas pulled her pajamas and underwear down to her ankles, removed his own clothing, and laid on top of her before she started screaming and he tried to cover her mouth.

Thomas is currently being held without bail in the Cache County Jail as the criminal case moves through the court.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
