LOGAN — A Logan woman was arrested late Thursday night after allegedly assaulting her husband with a kitchen pan during a domestic dispute regarding social media usage.
Jennifer Corona, 24, was booked into the Cache County Jail on one count of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony, following the incident at a home near 1500 South and 1300 West.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, Logan City Police officers responded to the residence at approximately 10 p.m.. The dispatch call was initiated by the victim, who told dispatchers his wife had “beat the hell out of him with a kitchen pan”.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers reported finding the husband at the front door. The affidavit describes the man holding his nose, with his face and hands “covered in blood”.
Police say the altercation began as a verbal argument over the husband following other women on social media platforms. The dispute escalated in the couple’s kitchen. The victim told police he told Corona to “find another man,” at which point she allegedly grabbed a small kitchen pan and began striking him.
The affidavit states Corona hit her husband multiple times, striking him on the top of the head, the arm, and the face. The victim admitted to officers that he punched Corona in the eye during the attack, which he claimed caused her to stop the assault.
When interviewed by police, Corona reportedly corroborated the sequence of events. She admitted she became angry after her husband told her to find another partner, and confessed to grabbing the pan and hitting him several times. She also confirmed she stopped the attack after being punched in the eye.
Emergency medical personnel evaluated both parties at the scene. EMS workers determined the husband’s nose was “shifted out of place and possibly broken”. Corona was evaluated for the injury to her eye and cleared by medical staff before being taken into custody.
Corona was transported to the Cache County Jail, where she is being held on the domestic violence-related felony charge.
