LOGAN — The Utah Department of Health and Human Services will hold the final of eight regional listening sessions this Friday in Logan, wrapping up a statewide tour aimed at shaping Utah’s plan to support residents in aging well.
The event will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Cache County Senior Center, 240 N. 100 East in Logan, and will cover Box Elder, Cache and Rich counties.
The series of sessions is part of Gov. Spencer Cox’s “Aging With a WISE Purpose” initiative. The program focuses on improving four key pillars of aging well: Wealth, Independence, Security and Engagement.
“Our aging population has given so much to our communities, and it’s time to return the favor by helping them age with dignity and independence,” Cox said in a statement. “These listening sessions are an important step in building a thoughtful and responsive plan for the future.”
Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson is expected to attend the Logan session to hear directly from local residents.
The input gathered across all eight sessions will be used to develop a 10-year, statewide multi-sector plan focused on improving aging-related resources and infrastructure across Utah.
The initiative comes as the state prepares for a rapidly growing population of older adults in the coming decades.
