LOGAN – When it comes to recycling, city officials here are reminding residents that their motto should be “When in doubt, contact us or leave it out.”

That catchy phrase is intended to make city residents aware of the importance of only putting items that can actually be recycled in the familiar blue recycling bins, they say.

Logan officials explain that the city’s total recycling haul is delivered to Mountain Fiber in Hyrum. Employees there hand sort that refuse, bale it and sell the materials to reuse manufacturers.

The recycling process can handle paper, cardboard, metal cans that once held food or beverages and clear or transparent plastic containers that once held soda, milk, vinegar and water.

Questions about what can and cannot be recycled can be directed to the Logan City Environmental Department at 435-716-9755.

Since 1971, the Logan City Environmental Department has provided a variety of services for residents of Logan City, including solid waste management, waste water treatment, green waste handling and mosquito abatement.

Logan has offered a commingled curbside recycling program since 2006.
