LOGAN – At a special meeting on Nov. 17, the members of the Logan Municipal Council officially confirmed the results of the city municipal election held on Nov. 4.

City council member and local businessman Mark Anderson was recognized as the winner of the mayoral race to replace outgoing Mayor Holly Daines.

In the final count, Anderson earned 4,326 votes, or 58 percent of nearly 7,400 ballots cast.

His challenger, Alanna Hafziger, garnered 3,027 or about 41 percent of city ballots.

The 7,393 total ballots counted in Logan races represented about 37 percent of the 19,822 registered voters in the city, according to Cache County Clerk Bryson Behm, whose staff was responsible for compiling the election results.

The final counts in the highly competitive races for two at-large seats on the Logan Municipal Council were 3,985 for incumbent council member Ernesto Lopez (29.5 percent); 3,643 for Katie Lee-Koven (27 percent); 3,559 for Melissa Dahle (26.4 percent); and 2,304 for Brian Seamons (17 percent).

Behm reported that, of the 7,393 mail-in ballots cast in the Logan races, 4,719 were deposited in local dropboxes; 2,478 were returned via the U.S. Postal Service; 148 resulted from in-person voting; 13 came from military personnel or overseas voters covered by the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act; and another 35 were provisional ballots issued pending verification of a voter’s eligibility.

The County Clerk’s Office was also responsible for resolving a total of 103 ballots with signature verification issues. Of those, 56 were eventually counted, while 47 remained uncured.

A total of 92 ballots were rejected because they arrived via USPS after the 8 p.m. deadline on Election Day mandated by the state.

In countywide balloting on Nov. 4, Behm said that 24,251 ballots were returned, resulting in a voter turnout of 40 percent of Cache County’s more than 60,000 registered voters.

Anderson, Lopez and Lee-Koven are scheduled to assume their new posts in the city’s administration on Jan. 1, 2026.
