LOGAN — A 23-year-old Logan man is headed to prison for sharing child pornography over the internet last year. Isaiah Robert Sherbahn has been in the Cache County Jail and State Hospital since being arrested Jan. 25, 2024, after police reportedly found images of young girls being raped on his cell phone.

Sherbahn was sentenced March 24 in Logan’s 1st District Court. He previously accepted a plea deal in two cases, pleading guilty to three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony; and assault by a prisoner, a third-degree felony.

According to prosecutors, the Logan City Police Department received six cybertips back in December 2023. They were from three different social media platforms and all linked to Sherbahn.

Snapchat, Reddit, and X all reported Sherbahn had sent child sex abuse material on their apps. Police viewed the files that depicted the “sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of obvious children,” court documents described.

Officers obtained a warrant to search Sherbahn’s cell phone, which had 16 files of child pornography on it.

The criminal case against Sherbahn had been delayed for more than a year as doctors at the State Hospital treated him to restore his mental competency.

During Monday’s sentencing, defense attorney Cameron Cox asked the court to consider probation instead of prison. He explained how his client had been struggling with mental health issues at the time of being arrested.

Cache County Deputy Attorney Joshua Nemeth argued for Sherbahn to be sent to prison due to the number of victims in the files the defendant had shared.

Judge Spencer Walsh said he was concerned with the graphic type of material Sherbahn was sharing. He sentenced him to a term of one-to-15-years at the Utah State Correctional Facility.
