LOGAN — A 66-year-old Logan man is facing seven second-degree felony charges for allegedly mishandling his mother’s trust and withholding more than $35,000 from his seven siblings.

According to charging documents filed Wednesday, Clint Ray Stevens was indicted following an investigation by the Cache County Sheriff’s Office. Prosecutors allege that while acting as trustee, Stevens illegally transferred money from the trust into his personal bank and investment accounts, violating the terms of the trust.

Much of the funds were either spent or lost on failed investments, preventing the beneficiaries from receiving their designated payouts, according to the indictment.

Stevens is charged with six counts of theft and one count of unlawful dealing of property by a fiduciary. Each of the seven charges alleges the value of the stolen or mishandled funds was $5,000 or more.

Court records show Stevens has not been arrested. A summons for him to appear in court was issued Wednesday.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
