LOGAN — A 41-year-old Logan man has confessed to raping a teenage girl last fall. Sean Kenneth Isaacs accepted a plea deal that will likely send him to prison.
Isaacs appeared Wednesday, Nov. 29, in Logan’s 1st District Court. He pleaded guilty to one count of rape, a first-degree felony. As part of the plea agreement, six remaining charges were dismissed.
According to prosecutors, the 17-year-old victim told her mother last December that Isaacs, who is considered to be a person of trust, had raped her several times. The incidents had occurred in October 2022.
The girl was later interviewed at the Children’s Justice Center. She described how Isaacs raped her at his Logan apartment the weekend before Halloween. He had provided her alcohol and then began inappropriately touching her.
Despite trying to push Isaacs away, the victim told investigators that he forcefully raped her four times.
As part of their investigation, the Logan City Police Department performed a recorded phone call between Isaacs and the teenage girl. When asked about the incidents, he said he felt guilty and that it was “probably not the best choice,” officers reported.
Police arrested Isaacs at his Logan apartment Jan. 11, 2023. He acknowledged to knowing about the rape allegations but refused to talk to officers about it, invoking his right to remain silent. He was later booked into the Cache County Jail, where he remains held without bail.
During Wednesday’s hearing, Isaacs was ordered to complete a presentence report about his criminal history. He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 17, where he could face up to life in prison.
