LOGAN – The Logan Library is partnering with the Cache Valley Historical Society (CVHS) to host monthly historical talks highlighting the history of Cache Valley and the Mountain West.
Joseph Anderson, the non-fiction librarian and assistant director, said the Cache Valley Historical Society has been giving lectures for many decades in the Historic County Courthouse.
“I am the local history librarian and have attended the lectures,” he said. “They need to move out of the courthouse and didn’t have a location to meet.”
CVHS does not have collections to manage, but they provide scholarships to students studying history and they try to keep history alive in Cache Valley.
The group is the oldest local chapter of the Utah State Historical Society in the state and began in 1951. The organization is unique in the West because it includes an area involving two states.
The lectures will occur on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Logan Library Community Room, located at 285 North Main St. Meetings will feature expert speakers on various topics and are free and open to the public. Upcoming dates and authors include:
Feb 12: Brent Rogers – Buffalo Bill Cody and the Mormons
Mar 12: Rebecca Andersen – Utah’s Cold War Landscapes
April 9: USU Scholarship Winners
May 14: Robert S. Burch Jr – Sema Hadithi African American Heritage and
Culture Foundation
Jun 11: Gary Bergera – The Arrington Diaries
Please note that no CVHS meetings will be held in July, August, or December.
