LOGAN – An Island neighborhood resident is trying to help victims who lost everything in the wildfire early Saturday morning. The fire burned an estimated 40 acres. That fire forced mass evacuations and damaged structures and vehicles in northeast Logan.
Eleni Robinson, a volunteer with Cache Valley Mutual Aid, is trying to gather clothes and personal hygiene items for those that lost everything in the fire.
The Western Conservation Corps helps young adults develop critical skills to help them with a career in conservation. They get hands-on experiences in remote locations throughout the American West. Program participants were enrolled to learn environmental awareness, technical skills, social responsibility and leadership skills.
“Many of the cars that were burned had everything volunteers for the Conservation Corps owned,” Robinson said. “They were living out of the cars. So, when their cars burned so did all their belongings.”
Robinson said they are trying to start with collecting the basics like camping and hiking equipment as well as new underwear, shirts, pants, sweaters shoes, sandals and journals.
Robinson said her volunteer-run organization focuses on supporting the community and meeting local demands.
“I cleared it with our organization to use them to help these people in need,” she said. “We will see how much we can help them.”
Donations can be dropped off at 619 N. 500 E. Logan. There is a pink tote located at the side door of the residence for donations.
