LOGAN – Angie’s diner in Logan has been selected as one of the 50 best local eateries of its kind in the United States by the national Food Network.

“Diners are a quintessential part of our nation’s dining landscape, serving up regional delicacies, immigrant-influenced fare and scratch made food like all-day breakfast, patty melts, burger and pies, all paired with a side of nostalgia,” according to Food Network contributor Layla Khoury-Hanold.

Tasked with the challenge of highlighting the best diners in all 50 states, Khoury-Hanold picked Angie’s as representing the best diner comfort food in Utah, hands-down.

“Since 1983, Angie’s – which is named for owner Saboor Saheli’s daughter — has become a beloved family-friendly fixture that’s served legions of loyal diners, some who eat here every day, as well as multiple generations of families,” she explains.

That’s how Angie’s earned its motto – “Where the Locals Eat.”

Whether it’s a locally famous joint that took a starring turn on the Food Network’s celebrated Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with host Guy Fieri, a historic dining car or a retro café dishing out rock ‘n’ roll vibes, Khoury-Hanold says her 50-state list features the best classic diners from coast to coast.

The term “dive” is certainly inappropriate for Angie’s, however. The Food Network writer adds that the diner’s tight community connection is reflected friendly customer service as well as its décor, including a mural by a local artist outside and customer artwork lining the walls inside.

Breakfast is Angie’s claim to fame, she observes, to the tune of 1,700 eggs served daily alongside signatures dishes like Indian fried bread scones, biscuits and gravy, fresh cinnamon rolls and the sought-after Wednesday special of cottage cheese pancakes.

“Vying for top menu billing is the kitchen sink, a mammoth banana split. If you finish it, you’ll earn a bumper sticker that says, ‘I cleaned the sink at Angie’s,’ a proud boast that’s been spotted across Utah and beyond state lines,” Khoury-Hanold emphasizes.
