LOGAN — Before the little ghouls hit the streets for trick-or-treating Tuesday night, law enforcement is providing tips on how to keep kids safe.
The Cache County Sheriff’s Office posted several recommendations on their social media account, on how to safely celebrate Halloween. The tips included:
- Encouraging kids to trick-or-treat in groups and children under 12 be accompanied by an adult.
- Choose bright colored costumes or use reflective tape. Ensure nothing is obstructing vision.
- Make sure candy is inspected and safe before eating anything. Remove treats that aren’t factory wrapped.
- Instruct kids to always stay in well-lit areas and avoid shortcuts or isolated spots.
- Do not enter anyone’s home unless you know them or feel comfortable doing so.
The Logan City Police Department is hosting a Trunk or Treat on Halloween day, starting at 3 p.m. and ending at 5p.m. It will at 62 W. 300 North. There will be firefighters, police officers, dispatchers and other staff. There will also be police vehicles, a fire truck, and an ambulance to look at as well.
Officers said they want to make sure Halloween is a safe one.
Utah Highway Patrol troopers are reminding motorists to drive safely and watch for trick-or-treaters. Officials report they’ve already seen eight fatal auto-pedestrian crashes this month. High speeds and decreased daytime hours are just a couple of reasons why October is so dangerous for pedestrians.
