SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that all of its students, faculty and humanitarian volunteers in the Middle East are accounted for and safe following recent military strikes in Iran and the surrounding region.
In a statement released Saturday afternoon, hours after the attacks, Church officials said they are closely monitoring the evolving situation and maintaining regular contact with local leaders. The affected region is home to thousands of the Church’s members.
“We express our profound concern and heartfelt compassion for all those living in harm’s way,” the statement read.
The Church added that it is joining in prayer with families worldwide who have loved ones in the area, emphasizing that the safety and well-being of individuals remain the top priority amid the ongoing conflict.
