LOGAN – The “Hot Now” sign will no longer glow a warm red indicating hot, fresh, original-glazed doughnuts inside Krispy Kreme in Logan. The doughnut shop permanently closed its doors December 27th.

Krispy Kreme closed

A sign posted on the door at the 1065 North Main location reads, “This shop has permanently closed. Visit our nearest location: 4212 Riverdale Rd. Ogden, UT.”

There are now only five Krispy Kreme locations throughout the state of Utah, with the closest locations for Northern Utah residents in Ogden and Layton. Krispy Kreme pre-packaged doughnuts, however, can still be found at various grocery stores and gas stations, including Smith’s and Costco.

The closure is the second in just a matter of weeks on the same Logan block. Denny’s, located at 1007 North Main permanently closed its doors just before Christmas.

Between the two stores, dozens of employees were left without jobs to close out the year. Both opened close to the same time when the block was redeveloped approximately 10 years ago.

In the fall of 2024, Denny’s announced its intent to close 150 of its restaurants around the country with the earliest stores to be closed by the end of the year. The company announced the move as an attempt to strengthen its cash flow.

Denny's

There are 21 Denny’s still in operation in Utah.

The food businesses are located near the busy 1000 North intersection, a street that was severely disrupted for months as Logan City worked to widen the street between Main Street and 200 West. Road construction and disruptions also took place on the east side of the intersection.
