May 3, 1944 – December 18, 2023 (age 79)
Judy Kay Draper Lofland reunited with her sweetheart, Danni Ellsworth Lofland (2022), on December 18 th , 2023. It seems so natural that she only survived him by a little more than a year. They met when she was 17. He asked her to marry him on their first date. They married a month after she turned 18 and were married for 60 years. They will be together forever now.
All Judy ever wanted to be was a mother. A lot of people these days don’t think that’s a high enough
aspiration for a woman. They didn’t know Judy. She epitomized the title “Mother”. She birthed 12
children and adopted her last so she ended up with a Baker’s dozen. And eventually 33 grandkids, plus 5 great-grandkids (and counting). Her life simply was her family. Everything she ever did was for them.
Her example of pure Christ-like love was not solely for her blood family though. Judy never met a
stranger. She always had room for another friend or child in her heart. There are so many of her
children’s friends who have also called her “Mom” through the years. Her kids all disappointed her at some point and she was not shy about letting them know it. However, she also let them know that she loved them, no matter what.
Her faith in her Savior and Heavenly Father is immutable. Her family takes so much comfort in knowing she is back with her husband, her sons Matthew (1988), Spencer (2005), Todd (2023), her granddaughter Tori (1993), her younger brothers Lee (2021) and Kent (2023), and niece Wendy (2022).
While they have their earthly time of mourning, they rejoice that she is no longer in pain and still surrounded by family, just as she’d want it.
It would take pages and pages to truly express the love Judy spread throughout the world in her lifetime. We will simply leave it to two of her most common phrases to her kids and grandkids: “Be careful” and most importantly, “I love you”.
She is survived by her children Bry (Angela), Michael (Dani), Scott (Kele), Lori (Bob) Drake, Kristi Fatuesi, Samuel, Nathan (Micaela), Jana (Sean) Lowe, Jeffrey (Melinda), and Kayla (Andrew) Stevens.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 11:00 a.m. at the LDS chapel at 94 W 600 S, Logan, UT.
There will be a visitation with family at 10:15, and the service will start at 11:00.
Interment will be at Logan City Cemetery.
