August 20, 1934 — May 16, 2022 (age 87)

Our loving mother, Joyce Atkinson Wanner passed away May 16,2022. Joyce, known by everyone as ‘Nana’, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her home in West Point, Utah. Joyce was born August 20,1934 in Treasureton, Idaho to Von and Vera Atkinson. She graduated from Preston High School in 1952 and married her high school sweetheart Kay T. Wanner on June 19,1952 in the Logan temple.

Joyce and Kay lovingly raised 5 children, Robin Kay Hampton (Dennis), Jana Lee (Randy) Hobbs, Pamala (Jeff) Bates, Kelly Woodson, and Richard Wanner.  She graduated from Weber State University and completed her degree in nursing while raising her children. She was an excellent nurse and retired after 35 years of working in pediatrics. Mom was always very faithful in her church callings. She served as both Relief Society President, Primary President and was a wonderful visiting teacher, along with many other callings in the church.

After retirement, Joyce and Kay worked for the National Forest Service in Island Park. They spent many years loving the outdoors and creating fun memories with family and friends. Everyone enjoyed camping with them and being spoiled by their delicious Dutch oven cooking. They loved camping, fishing, boating, sandrailing, and crafting together. Everywhere they worked or played they made lifelong friends. Mom was always working on a project, she loved to crochet, sew, needlework and quilting. She entered several of her projects in fairs, winning ribbons for her excellent work.

Joyce is survived by her sister Lila (Roland) Hull, brother Kevin Atkinson, along with 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband Kay T. Wanner, her parents Von and Vera Atkinson, five brothers, and two great grandchildren.

There will be a family viewing for our sweet Nana on Monday, May 23rd, 2022, from 9:30–10:30 am at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho, followed by a dedication of the grave at the Whitney Cemetery at 11 am.
