LOGAN – Utah State University officials have announced that Jeff Lambson will be joining the staff of the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art as the facility’s new deputy director.

Lambson brings 25 years of experience as a director or curator of museums, primarily at universities, according to Katie Lee-Koven, the executive director and chief curator at NEHMA.

“Jeff brings together the experience, visionary thinking, passion and kindness that I was looking for to join me in leading our museum as we enter a new era of engagement and expansion,” Lee-Koven explained.

Since 2017, Lambson led the University Art Galleries at the University of Colorado (Denver). During his tenure there, Lambson nearly quadrupled annual attendance, expanded the gallery space, tripled the annual budget and dramatically increased national and international media attention.

His previous experience included being the founding curator for contemporary art at Brigham Young University and six years working at the Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden as assistant to its director.

“I believe art is a powerful medium to make real change happen,” Lambson emphasizes.

“The draw of Logan and USU is one of those dream opportunities that do not come along very often,” he adds. “The NEHMA is an important voice in the local and national art community. It’s programs and exhibitions are respected across the country.”

Lee-Koven says that Lambson’s new position will coincide with a significant period of growth for NEHMA as it inaugurates the Wanless Center for Arts Education and Research to enhance programming and exhibitions for both the university and the community.

The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art fosters engagement with modern and contemporary art to facilitate learning and promote dialogue about ideas that are important to the people of Utah and the mission of USU.

The museum is located at 650 North, 1100 East on the USU campus.
