LOGAN — A 42-year-old Hyrum mas was arrested after law enforcement reportedly observed him selling methamphetamine to an informant. Gerardo Gil-Paz was booked Thursday into the Cache County Jail.
According to the arrest affidavits, agents with the Cache Rich Drug Task Force were made aware of Gil-Paz selling meth in the Hyrum area. Thursday they conducted a controlled purchase of drugs with the help of the informant.
Once the drugs were determined to be methamphetamine, law enforcement arrested Gil-Paz at his home. While searching him, agents also found a small amount of meth in his wallet, wrapped in one dollar bills, the booking report stated.
Gil-Paz was booked into jail on suspicion of distributing a controlled substance, a second-degree felony; and misdemeanors for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to jail records, Gil-Paz was released after being booked, pending potential formal charges.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
