LOGAN – The 10th annual Christmas Tree Jubilee takes place Monday, November 25th from 2-6 p.m. at the Riverwoods Conference Center in Logan, and this year it features a new twist. In its previous years, the fundraiser for the Cache Education Foundation was a by-invitation-only event, but this year there are opportunities for the public to see and bid on beautifully decorated Christmas trees and wreaths from local businesses.
Lori Reynolds and Debbie Miles are this year’s coordinators for the Christmas Tree Jubilee, presented by DWA Construction, and they invite the public to visit this special event that raises money for students and classrooms in the Cache County School District and Unified Sports.
“We’re going to have trees this year that are fun and unique,” Miles exclaims. “They’re going to be anywhere from three to five to seven feet tall. Some of them are going to be very whimsical, some will just be fun, some will be very traditional.
“And those trees can go anywhere. They can go in a child’s bedroom, at the end of your fireplace, you could put them in a family room.”
The trees are already decorated and lit so people can take them home that night.
Reynolds says besides having trees and wreaths of various sizes and styles, the Christmas Tree Jubilee offers various price points for people wanting to buy something for themselves in a large home or a small apartment, for a family member, a friend, or even for a business client.
“That’s why we’re changing it this year,” Reynolds says, “so that more people can be involved and there will be lower price points on the trees. We’re so excited about that change.”
The event will also feature opportunities to enjoy other tastes, smells and sounds of the season. Hot chocolate, cookies and other treats will be available for purchase, as well as entertainment from local school choirs and performance groups.
“It’s just going to be fun,” says Miles, “and fun to go tree shopping. And that’s why we’re doing it in November so they can get their tree and have it ready for Christmas.”
Santa will also be making a visit and be available from 3-6 p.m.
The fundraiser has benefited students and classrooms throughout the Cache County School District over the last 10 years. In a way of showing thanks, dozens and dozens of students are involved in making an art piece that will be shown at the event.
“A lot of the children in the valley have already done a handprint,” Reynolds explains. “They’re going to be out on a school bus (in front of the Riverwoods Conference Center) and they’re welcome to come find their print, take that with them.”
Besides raising funds for local schools, the event raises funds for Unified Sports and Special Olympics through what is called the Hope Tree, presented by Fox Pest Control. That money will help with uniform costs, travel expenses and other activity fees.
At 6:30, the event will transition to a VIP evening with larger, more decadently decorated trees auctioned off.
“We will have hors d’oeuvres that night,” Miles adds. “They’ll be able to bid on these trees, they’ll be a bit nicer, they’re a bit taller.”
The Cache Education Foundation is a registered non-profit so all donations are tax deductible. One-hundred percent of all funds raised go directly to benefit students and classrooms.
