Harvey Curtis “Smitty” Smith, 65, passed away on December 20, 2019 at his home in Hurricane, Utah.
He was born on May 14, 1954 in Brigham City, Utah, a son of Heber and Emma Myrtle Paskett Smith. Harvey married the love of his life Cindy Wright Bennet on March 12, 1988. Cindy is his angel.
He worked at Thiokol from October 1983 to February 2016. He also worked with Habitat for Humanity and NNHC helping families receive home ownership. He helped over 40 families with these programs.
Harvey loved the outdoors, camping, and touring back country trails on his dune buggy or 4 wheeler. He also loved playing softball and retiring from the sport at age 40.
Surviving are his wife, Cindy Smith of Hurricane; five children, Samari Valdez, Ogden, Utah; Heidi Isaacson, Red Hill, Pennsylvania; Rebecca (Jason) Beaver, St. George, Utah; Camie (Jeremy) Zimmerman, Yelm, Washington; Katie (Justin) Glover, Perry, Utah, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are his 5 siblings, Darwin H. (Ronda) Smith, Taylorsville, Utah; Alice (John) King, Wellsville, Utah; LaNae S. Jessop, Hurricane, Utah; Shana Swain, Ogden, Utah; and Alisa Smith, Hurricane, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and a grandson, Quay Jensen.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 12:45pm at the Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City. A viewing will be held on Friday prior to the services from 11:00am – 12:30pm. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans of Box Elder County.
